Hello Friends -
I did recently talk about photoshop and some of the wonderful features that are available in that program but the program that really seperates the men from the boys is Adobe Illustrator. Creating vector artwork is really a sign of true creativity and expertise with Adobe products. Believe it or not illustrator is actually better for creating logos and illustrations(hence the name) than photoshop. Since photoshop is more common most people naturally flock to that program, but if you are not editing photos you really need to invest your time and efforts into illustrator. Yes, you can create vector artwork in photoshop but illustrator is king when it comes to illustrations.
One thing that I think scares many people away from illustrator is the "pen tool". It is a very hard tool to get used to when first starting out, but like with anything after practicing with it enough you wll get better.
Once you really get your feet wet and diive into illustrator you will see the power of this progra. Something that is worth mentioning is when creating work in photoshop you are pretty much restricted to the size you created the work. With illustrator you can re-size a work as large or as small as you like without losing the quality of the work.
Vector based work is created using math and not pixels like with photoshop. Since the work is created with vectors you can re-size the image and illustrator will calculate the new size and make adjustments to keep the quality of your work. If you are new to illustrator and are curious to learn more about creating some nice looking artowrk I would suggest checking out sites like lynda.com and totaltraining.com. Both have excellent easy to follow videoo tutorials that can help you get up to speed in no time. And also check out books on this software as well to get extra advice and other perspectives on how to use this software. You can get those books from amazon.com
